Is Your Body Baby Ready?
Whether you have decided that the time is now to try to conceive or you are starting your assisted conception journey with a Fertility Clinic, preparing your body first is imperative.
Regardless of your age, it’s important to be mindful of your general health, diet and your lifestyle. I would even go as far as to say that your mindset is also pinnacle.
As it takes three months for new follicles to grow to ovulation stage and it takes three to four months for sperm to regenerate, this is the time that you want to spend on improving your pre conception health.
There is so much that acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can offer for this stage. Treatments will work on regulating your hormones, balancing your menstrual cycle, working on follicle health and endometrium lining quality and correcting any issues out of sync such as painful periods, light or heavy periods and so on. Here at Log House Clinic, we can also work closely with your BBT charts in order to identify any issues around your hormones, length of follicular and luteal phases and also to identify your ovulation window and optimal conception timing. Whilst all this wonderful work is being done, you will find that other health issues that you have can also be indirectly treated such as digestive issues, problems with sleep, body temperature and of course the inevitable anxiety and sometimes obsession that comes with desperately trying to become pregnant.
And don’t forget the males. As sperm are needed to create a baby, the often overlooked partners can also benefit from acupuncture or herbal tweaking, to assist with healthy new sperm generation and all round good health which is hugely important.
For both partners a low GI diet is important to create healthy ph levels as well as a good multivitamin ensuring the correct amounts of pre natal vitamins and minerals in your body. No more than three cups of caffeine per day, even for men, and reduce your alcohol.
And lastly, more and more people are now aware of and are onboard with having a positive mindset and working with gratitude in order to keep things simple! I absolutely love working with couples and individuals to tease out limiting beliefs around fertility. Changing mindsets and flipping the sub conscious thought to positive ones. There is so much to talk about on this one!
Gratitude is the experience of counting ones blessings.
A simple start is to have a gratitude journal and list 3 to 5 things that you are grateful for either at the beginning of your day or last thing at night or why not both! These can be the little things in your life that bring you joy, for example; I am grateful for the hot strong cup of tea I had in the quite this morning, to; I am so grateful for the warm cosy bed that I have created for myself. Acknowledging these little things will shift your focus to something positive and quieten your busy mind.
